오늘은 여름 휴가를 떠나는 날! 잭에겐 뜻깊은 날입니다.
ML 카드를 가지고 갈까 고민하던 중 동생 애니가 빼꼼이 머리를 내밀며
매트하가 와있는지 체크하러 가자고 합니다.
어자피 매트하가 와있더라도 여행중에는 시간이 멈춰지기 때문에
가는데 5분 돌아오는데 5분이면 충분합니다.
그런데 오늘 애니의 꿈자리가 뒤숭숭합니다.
악몽을 꾸었는데 마치 불이 타고 있는 듯한.... 꿈이였네요.
숲안에서 매트하를 찾게되고 모건할머니께서 손을 흔들고 있습니다.
그리고 오늘부터 주워지는 4가지 임무!
오늘은 폼페이로 떠납니다.
그리고 모건할머니께서 행인 속에 섞여서 도와주겠다는 말을 건냅니다.
항상 몸으로 부딪히는 애니지만.. 오늘은 발걸음이 엄청 무겁네요.
잭이 먼저 나서는건 처음봅니다. ㅎㅎㅎ
불안해하는 애니를 다독거리며 .. 마을로 진입하는데
새들도 한마리도 없고, 강조차 말라버렸습니다. 과연 무슨일이 생길까요?
마을은 잭과 애니가 현재 살고 있는 곳이랑 별로 다른게 없어보입니다.
그러다 갑자기 나타난 마귀할멈 포스를 가진 .... 그녀!!
종말을 예고하게 되는데...
애니와 잭은 자신의 정체가 드러날까봐 서둘러 떠납니다.
저는 사실 폼페이를 매트하에서 처음 알게 되었네요
그래서 매트하를 처음 보게됐을때 정말 설레였던 기억이 나네요 ^^

what의 절로 나오는 경우 보통 불안전한 문장이 됩니다.
여기서 말하는 불안정한 문장이란.. 문장안에 무언가 빠져있다는 얘기입니다.
Morgan meant. 이 문장에선 무엇이 빠졌을까요? meant가 의미하다라는 뜻인데
뭘 의미하는지 목적어가 빠졌죠?
이에 비해 that 절은 완벽한 문장이 오는게 특징입니다.
that이 좀 짜증나는게... 관계대명사에도 that절이 있고, 지시대명사인 that도 있고.. 여기까지 ㅠㅠ

단지 미친 사람은 아니였나봅니다.
그리고 주피터에 관련된 이야기와 신화 등등에 대한 정보를 얻게되고
글레디에이터에 관련된 정보도 얻게됩니다.
그리고 다시 나타난 예언가...
이번엔 애니가 무언가 말을 건내보려 합니다.
그리고 ML카드를 보이자.. 얼굴에 미소를 보이기 시작하는데요.
얼른 빨리 책을 구해서 이곳을 떠나라고 합니다.

아무도 없는 듯이 조용하기만 합니다.
과연 책은 어디에 있을까요?
잭과 애니는.. 이방 저방 들어가보게 됩니다.
하지만 책이란걸 찾아볼 수 없는 상황..
그러다 결국..이 시대엔 책이란게 스크롤로 되어있는 것을 알게되고
드디어 해당 책을 찾게 됩니다.
하지만 영어가 아닌 라틴어라 읽을 수 없어서 아쉬워 하는 잭..
그리고 나서..
폼페이 지진에 관련된 정보를 책에서 얻고
그게 바로 오늘인 것을 알게됩니다.
그리고 몇시인지 알아보기 위해 해시계를 찾았지만
갑자기 들려오는 폭발음.. 화산이 이미 폭발한걸까요?

우연히 도서관을 발견하게 되고 침착하게 책을 펼쳐보게 됩니다.
그리고 폼페이 화산폭발에 관한 정보를 얻고
배개를 머리에 둘러 탈출하게 됩니다.
이미 마을은 아수라장이 되어있었고, 어디로 가야하나 고민중에
매트하가 베수비오산을 등지고 있었기 때문에
그곳으로 달려가기로 결정하고 올리브 숲을 찾아해매다가..
결국 말라있는 강을 발견했으나..
이미 다리는 사라졌네요.
이제 잭과 애니는 어떻게 될까요?
